For millions of Afghan girls, access to education has become increasingly restricted. Yet education remains one of the most powerful tools for hope, resilience, and opportunity.
Caring Connection is an initiative of Act and Hope that connects volunteer English teachers from around the world with Afghan girls for free, one-on-one online English lessons. Through personalized instruction, mentorship, and meaningful human connection, we help girls develop the language skills, confidence, and support they need to pursue brighter futures.
We believe that every lesson is more than an English class—it is a reminder that someone believes in their potential.
Since the Taliban’s return to power, millions of Afghan girls have faced severe restrictions on their education and personal development. Many have been denied access to secondary schools and universities, while opportunities to learn English or connect with experienced educators have become increasingly limited.
For many girls, the classroom has disappeared, but the desire to learn has not.
Without access to English education, girls face additional barriers to international scholarships, online learning, professional opportunities, and global communication. Isolation, uncertainty, and limited educational resources continue to widen the gap between their aspirations and the opportunities available
to them.
Caring Connection exists to empower Afghan girls through education, mentorship, and human connection.
By carefully matching each student with a dedicated volunteer English teacher, we create a supportive learning environment where girls can strengthen their English, build confidence, and continue investing in their futures despite the challenges they face.
Education is not simply about learning a language—it is about restoring hope, expanding possibilities, and reminding every girl that she is not alone.
Caring Connection delivers personalized, one-on-one English education through a global network of trained volunteer teachers.
Each student receives:
Every volunteer contributes more than language instruction—they become a trusted mentor who encourages confidence, resilience, and lifelong learning.

Student Registration
Girls apply through a secure registration process that helps us understand their English proficiency, educational background, learning goals, and availability.

Volunteer Recruitment
Volunteer teachers from around the world apply to join the program. Every volunteer completes orientation, safeguarding training, and agrees to Act and Hope’s Code of Conduct before being matched with a student.

Thoughtful Matching
Students and teachers are carefully paired based on English level, scheduling availability, learning objectives, and compatibility to support a positive and lasting learning experience.

Weekly Learning
Teachers and students meet online for regular one-on-one English lessons using our secure learning platform. Lessons focus on communication, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and practical language skills.

Ongoing Support
Act and Hope provides continuous support through teaching resources, attendance tracking, progress monitoring, technical assistance, and program coordination to ensure every participant has the tools they need to succeed.
Caring Connection is supported by a centralized digital learning platform designed specifically for volunteer education.

As the initiative grows, the platform will support hundreds—and ultimately thousands—of volunteer teachers and Afghan girls learning together in a safe, organized, and scalable environment.
Every girl learns differently.
Personalized instruction allows volunteer teachers to adapt lessons to each student’s pace, strengths, and goals while creating meaningful relationships built on trust and encouragement.
Research consistently shows that individualized learning improves confidence, language acquisition, and long-term educational outcomes.
One teacher.
One student.
One meaningful connection.
English opens doors that extend far beyond the classroom.
For Afghan girls, English can provide access to:
